OCCUPATIONS, INC., PRO-AM DRIVES IN SUPPORT FROM THE COMMUNITY
MONROE, NY – Over 100 golfers and friends, some coming from as far as the state of Texas, joined 29 Regional Golf
Pros on the greens at The Golf Club at Mansion Ridge in Monroe on June 19th in support of the Occupations, Inc., Pro-
Am Tournament. PGA Tour Pro, Mark Lye, a long-time friend and supporter of Occupations returned as the event host
this year. “As a player on the PGA Tour and Champions Tour, over the year’s we play in a lot of pro-ams, and none of
them are more significant than this one. This is a very important event for this area. Occupations, Inc., does a great
job,” commented Lye.
Lye was joined by Bobby Wilson, the eleven time RE/MAX World Longest Drive champion. Wilson and Lye dazzled the
crowd during a morning golf clinic sharing some helpful tips with the golfers. The crowd was amazed when Wilson
dropped to his knees and drove the ball for 300 hundred yards as a demonstration of the effect that one’s upper body
strength has in their swing. Wilson was honored to be part of the Pro-Am this year, commenting “It’s always about the
people and what their involved in… and this is like a family here.”
Event Co-Chairs, Chuck Benfer, General Manager of Cumulus Broadcasting, and Fred Dana, Vice President of Dana
Distributors, added some attractive contests to this year’s event, and continued with the well-received “Nebraska-Style”
Scramble format designed to afford both pros and amateurs an opportunity to win prizes. The team from TD Banknorth
-- Jim Dittbrenner, Kerry English, Frank Giordano, Jr., and Frank Giordano, III – took home the Pro-Am Cup Trophy this
year. Lou Siracusano’s foursome from New Jersey was the second low scoring team, and the foursome from
Government Service Administrators from Port Jefferson, NY was the third low scoring team. Lucas Sirois, the golf
professional at The Golf Club at Mansion Ridge was the winning pro, followed by Jamie McFarland (Osiris), Terence
Hughes (Dutchess County), Andrew Inman (Belmont Golf Complex), Joe 2-Spivak (Garrison), Bob Minicozzi (The
Powelton), Todd Barker (Grossingers), Taylor Walsh (New York Golf Pro), and Michael Laudien (PJ Rotella Golf Club).
But the real winners from that day are the people receiving services through Occupations, Inc.
Sponsors and golfers gathered the evening before the Pro-Am at a cocktail reception hosted by Dana Distributors in
Goshen where they were recognized for their generous support and participation in such an important fundraising event
for Occupations. The Occupations 2007 Pro Am, was sponsored in part by the Warwick Savings Foundation, WPDH,
94.3/97.3 The Wolf, Time Warner Cable, Dana Distributors, Johnstons Toyota, USI Insurance, and Safina Office
Products. Jim DeStefano, Occupations President/CEO, commented, “We are grateful to all volunteers, players,
sponsors, supporters and the Occupations professional staff, for their contribution to the huge success of this year’s
event!”
