Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Home Mod Consultation& “Access to Home”- will provide
financial assistance to property owners to make dwelling units accessible for low- and moderate
income persons with disabilities. Providing assistance with the cost of adapting homes to meet the
needs of those with disabilities will enable individuals to safely and comfortably continue to live in
their residences and avoid institutional care.

Benefits Advisement- Serving 13 Hudson Valley counties (including Orange, Ulster, Dutchess and
Sullivan), Questions about how going back to work will effect your SSI or SSDI? BPAO provides
services aimed at strengthening the confidence of SSI and SSA beneficiaries in taking full
advantage of available work incentives, and encouraging routine collaboration among community
agencies that provide information and services to persons who may be interested in entering or re-
entering the workforce.

Case Management- (for individuals living in supportive housing @ The Cornerstone Residence 111
Broadway- Offering a holistic, person-centered approach to facilitating connections with provider
agencies and community amenities, as well as the attainment of personal goals. Providing novel
supports that help to ensure long-term residential stability, personal recovery, and health and

Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Services (CDPAS)- Provided in cooperation with the local
Departments of Social Services in Orange, Ulster, Sullivan, and Dutchess Counties, this program
provides a unique alternative to traditional attendant care, given individuals being served the
opportunity to take control over the personal care services they receive - deciding HOW and WHEN
and BY WHOM those services are provided.

Day Habilitation- For (developmentally disabled adults) provides direct socialization that promotes
independence and participate in community integrated activities
Drop In Center- Offering a safe, comfortable, engaging environment for persons with psychiatric
disabilities, where they may choose to become involved in activities that encourage mutual
support and personal development.
Deaf Services- Serving as a bridge between the Deaf and hearing cultures in 4-counties. This
program is dedicated to providing community outreach and education, advocacy, service
coordination counseling and technical support for all Persons who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.

Food Pantry- Distribute supplemental and/or emergency non-perishable food to eligible Orange
County residents in need ; Provide hands on opportunities to help neighbors; Educate the public
about the issues of hunger in our area.

Scattered Sites-providing supportive housing opportunities across Newburgh and Orange County.

Medicaid Service Coordination- assisting persons with mental retardation and developmental
disabilities as well as persons with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) in gaining access to necessary
services and supports.
MICA Program (Mentally Ill Chemically Addicted) - @ 72 Broadway, Newburgh. Aiding in the
prevention of homelessness for persons having co-occurring psychiatric and addictive disabilities.
Offering wrap-around support, including core independent living services, in neighborhoods and

Respite- Providing respite services on Saturday to families while offering social, educational and
recreational experiences for children and youth with developmental disabilities

Self-Help & Wellness Programs – Facilitating participation in Double Trouble in Recovery (DTR) and
other self-help meetings throughout Orange County. Facilitating personal empowerment by
providing the tools and technical support to enable consumers to organize groups and conduct
meetings. Providing training in Wellness and Recovery Action Planning (WRAP), Integral Qigong
and Tai Chi.

Traumatic Brain Injury- MSC - assisting persons with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) in gaining access
to necessary services and supports.
Y (Youth)
ECDC (EARLY CHILDHOOD DIRECTION CENTER) offers FREE, neutral information and referral
services concerning children with disabilities: Early Intervention Programs, Preschool Special
Education, Child evaluation and assessment, Medical, Educational, and Social Services,
Transportation, Day Care and Preschool Programs, Training Opportunities for Parents and
Professionals; Other parent resources
LEAP( Learning Enrichment After-School Program) Is a FREE program that serves middle school
students with developmental disabilities from Newburgh and neighboring communities.
Saturday Afternoon Program- Providing respite services to families while offering social,
educational and recreational experiences for children and youth with developmental disabilities
School One Stop- This program (located at Dept of Labor) works one-on-one with students with
disabilities (ages 14- 21) on personal centered career planning in order to provide students
employment linkages to supportive services. . The Student Career Developer (SCD) works with the
Disability Program Navigator at the local One-Stop and VESID funded Community Services Liaisons
in local schools. This position involves contacting and enlisting the support of area employers in
identifying occupations having an unmet need, assisting with assessments and interview training
exercises, hosting job shadowing and trial work experiences and potentially providing job
