Dairy Promotion Program
By Larry R. Hulle, Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County Dairy Science Educator

This will be the 31st year that Orange County has been involved with the American Dairy Association & Dairy Councils (ADA& DC) Dairy Promotion
Program.  The Orange County program was revitalized in 1990 after a 7 year break and has been going strong ever since.  On April 21, 2007 the
annual dairy princess pageant was held at the VFW Hall in Greenville, NY.  Jennifer Simpson of Port Jervis, NY the 2006-07 Orange County Dairy
Princess gave her farewell speech to over 70 people in attendance.  Mario & JoAnna (DeBlock) Becerril of Westtown, NY were the judges for the
pageant.  JoAnna was the 1998-99 Orange County Dairy Princess and the 1999-2000 New York State Dairy Princess.  The newly crowned 2007-08
Orange County Dairy Princess is Ashley Calyer of Montgomery, NY.  Ashley is involved in the 4-H dairy bowl, dairy challenge, dairy judging and
showing cattle at the county fair.  Ashley’s goal is “to show people (kids) the importance of dairy products in their everyday meals.”
