ATI Recreation Program Policy and Procedures
|
1. This is the policy of the Action Toward Independence Recreation Program:
a. We will offer 12 events per calendar year to adults over the age of 18 years who are residents of Orange County
and who have past or present mental health history.
b. Event admissions and bus transportation from a pickup location, when applicable, are free of charge. There may
be a seat deposit required to hold your seat. This will be returned to you when you sign in for the event. If you do not
attend, but have registered, the deposit will go to recover some of the cost of your ticket.
c. The Program is intended to promote independence and social integration within the general community and not to
segregate the population.
d. It is a countywide program, open to all areas of Orange County.
e. It is the responsibility of any participant or group coordinators to register themselves for said events and provide
advance notice of cancellations of any individual who they have registered. No other person can register for you.
f. If two or more group participants are unable to attend and have not cancelled in advance, or have not filled their
seat with another qualified person, they may become responsible for the entire cost involved of said tickets that have been
paid for by the program. ATI will attempt to have standbys ready to fill these empty places, but is not responsible to do
so.
g. We will provide admissions to said events and will provide transportation, when applicable, to each event to and
from the pick up points ONLY. On occasion, and if included in the admission price, the Program will offer a meal/meal
voucher with an event. At no time are meals the responsibility of the Program.
h. All individuals are personally responsible for their meals, transportation to and from their homes, medications and
personal items.
i. Individuals must carry identification and emergency information on their person at an event.
j. ATI will provide reasonable accommodations when submitted in advance of an event in order to give time to
coordinate such accommodations.
k. It is our policy to include all areas of the county, all races and cultures in our Program. For this reason, there may
be occasions where the pick up points are changed or unavailable to a less active area on a certain event in order to
include another area of the county, which is underserved. At these times, program participants will be responsible to
arrange transportation to another pick up location if they choose to participate in that event. They will have advance notice
when this will occur.
l. Participants and/or agencies may choose to meet us at the event location and receive paid admissions when they
register and give advance notice to the Coordinator.
m. Procedures may necessitate changes to create a more user-friendly process. It is up to the discretion of the
program coordinator to incorporate immediate changes, when appropriate, due to scheduling and budget considerations.
n. It is up to the discretion of the program Coordinator to limit the number of participants from individual clubs to
insure that all individuals and groups within the county have a chance to participate in an event. This is done without
favoritism or prejudice to any club, group or individual.
o. Permanent changes will be with the input and consideration of the PAC) Peer Advisory Committee) and the
specifications made by individuals in the yearly Program Survey. Procedure of the program will adapt to the concerns of
participants to create a more user-friendly system. Agencies and participants will be notified of changes as they become
available.
2. Procedures
a. Event is offered to public via Community Bulletin Boards of Time Warner Cable System or by e-mail. It is posted
in community locations and at the Department of Mental Health.
b. Individuals may call on the specified registration sign up date that will be no earlier than two weeks prior to any
event unless specifically stated.
c. Voice mail or faxes are not considered registration until you have spoken to the coordinator personally. Follow up
your calls and faxes to insure they have been received.
d. If you have e-mail you can be put on an e-mail list to get the updates on all events in a timely manner. We do not
do mass mailings because there are too many people involved.

on the day of the event.
